Launch the Village Hub!

The Village Hub is a nondenominational community project under the support of Woodside Village Church as part of the mission to collaborate with all people of good will. None of the funds donated to the Village Hub will be used for internal church activities.

Community is vital for our health. Healthy social networks increase joy and reduce mortality. And at this time in our country and our world, having a place to gather – for spiritual support, interesting discussions, classes that help us to learn and grow, or just a place where we can meet our neighbors in a peaceful setting over a delicious espresso – is something that many of us in Woodside feel as important.

Last year about 10 neighbors including members of the Arts and Culture Committee , the church , The Village Doctor , the School Board , the Mounted Patrol , the CERPP Program and others got together with this dream.

Dozens of people have worked to launch this reality…a Hub for our village – a place where people of all ages and different backgrounds can come together and enjoy the benefits of a warm, village community in a place that encourages peace and personal exploration. Over the past year we have hosted yoga classes, music concerts, art presentations, community acupuncture sessions, meditation groups, a Holiday Faire and a joyous interfaith Community Passover Seder.

This month we launched the Hub Room to provide a refreshing retreat from the bustle of our daily lives – a space where our community, our friends and our children can gather over a coffee or a healthy nibble, to strengthen friendship and find solace if needed, in the heart of our lovely village of Woodside.

The money raised will help pay the community contractors who worked hard over the summer to get our beautiful Hub Room built out (plumbing, electrical, flooring, windows, and cabinetry, and more). It will cover the start-up costs for the Hub Room and help fund a part time Coordinator who will assist community members bring ideas for classes, events or meet-ups to fruition.
