Sudden ALS Diagnosis Medical and Funeral Help

Hi everyone, my name is Taylor Smith and I am the granddaughter of Karen Lyos. Karen retired as a bus driver from Van Buren schools just 3 years ago. While she should have been enjoying her well earned retirement, she instead struggled for years trying to find the cause of her extreme pain, trouble eating/swallowing, weakness in her hands, etc. She has been in the hospital for 2 weeks following an endoscopy that was supposed to help figure out why she couldn’t swallow properly but unfortunately led us to the terrible diagnosis of ALS…

At the moment she is on and off sedation while constantly connected to a ventilator. She’s understandably having major anxiety about the whole situation and does not like to be left alone. She is writing to communicate currently but with ALS she would eventually lose the ability to do that as well… Her children are in the process of figuring out what the next steps are for her but there are no good options... We are all having a very hard time wrapping our heads around this sudden fatal diagnosis. I am asking for help with medical expenses/bills my grandma has and help with their monthly bills as most of the family has been missing work regularly over these two weeks to be with her as much as possible. It will also go toward her funeral costs that are coming way sooner than we had hoped.
