Lash Industry for Justice & Minneapolis Recovery

Spende geschützt
As a Minneapolis artist, I’ve started a fundraising campaign called the Lash Industry for Justice & Minneapolis Recovery. 100% of donations will go directly to two organizations that will help rebuild the devastated city of Minneapolis and continue the fight for racial justice in our underserved communities.  I wanted to create a resource and central place for those of you who want to help but are not sure where to go.

50% of donations will go directly to business affected by the reaction to the killing of George Floyd as well as to the Lake Street Council  to help rebuild our city.  Lake Street Council will allocate funds primarily to small businesses that have experienced damage and loss and that are disproportionately represented. Lake Street is a street in Minneapolis that is now in ruins and home to many small businesses, like ourselves. Many business owners  such as restaurants, barber shops, clinics, markets, and more have either been severely damaged, looted, or completely burnt down. The majority of these businesses were already hurting due to COVID-19 closures and now are facing complete despair. The generous donations will help clean, restore, and recover from this disheartening time.

The other 50% of donations will go to Voices for Racial Justice , a Minnesota organization committed to building healing strategies for racial justice across Minnesota. They are involved in educating parents and youth, community research and policy, leadership development and training, and many more state wide movements that work to achieve racial and social justice.

Among other projects within the community, Voices for Racial Justice started the BRIDGE initiative working to abolish mass incarceration (<< please click this link to learn more about mass incarceration) and find true intrinsic solutions for criminal justice reform.

With other initiatives they say, "Our hope for the Racial Equity Impact Assessment is to build a framework around racial equity that can be utilized by legislators and policy-makers in collaboration with BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) communities when writing and introducing bills and policy. "

The deadline for this campaign will be July 12th.

A great resource to learn more about the ROOT of what is going on, and has been going on in our country is the documentary called "13th" on Netflix.

Please share and keep being kind.
