Larz was in a single vehicle roll over car accident on Tuesday June 9th and was ejected from the vehicle in Lafayette Colorado. Unfortunately Larz's vehicle went over a patch of loose gravel on Riverdale Rd through a turn and put his vehicle out of control (he was going the speed limit). The doctors preformed surgery on Larz's back for 6 hours after being brought into the hospital by ambulance. Larz has a broken back, neck, 4 ribs, and cheek bone; multiple stitches in his forehead and eye due to head trauma, a collapsed lung, and multiple fractures down his back. The impact was so significant Larz's spinal cord and nerves were disconnected and severed in his back leaving him unable to walk or feel below the waist. We; the family are raising money to help cover the costs insurance will not for rehab and for all the items needed when Larz is leaving the hospital (house ramps, electric wheelchair, a specialty pressure relieving bed, lifts, a vehicle to transport him to and from rehab, a walk-in shower, and many more items). We have been told it will be 5 months at the very least to get his disability approved, and we know there is much to be done before then. These funds will also help Larz to care for his 5 year old son Zyus; between school supplies, daycare, and day to day items needed due to Larz not being able to work at this time. We appreciate anything that anyone is able to do. Larz is medically stable at this time in the hospital. He is gaining back all memory (minus the accident) and is coherent. He is more mentally positive then anyone could ever imagine; he is being so so strong. The recovery will be a very slow and long process but we hope that one day we will have Larz back on his feet one way or another!
**UPDATE 06/29** Larz was accepted into his Spinal rehabilitation facility last week 06/23. He is making huge strides each day; he is at 60/100% where he need to be to go home and continue out-patient spinal rehabilitation. Larz is being extremely positive and strong through this entire thing. He is doing all that he needs to be able to get home to his son; Zyus.
**UPDATE 07/06** Larz is still making great strides daily in Spinal Rehabilitation. He has been given an expected date of August 4th to be released home. Larz will start out-patient therapy once he is released.
