Who We Are:
My name is Jim Berry I am the owner of Ethos Electric Vehicles, we are a family owned and operated Electric Vehicle company building custom electric motorcycles and automobiles for our clients. We started out building SCCA road racing vehicles and slowly, but purposefully, moved into the electric vehicle side of the automotive business. Up to now, we have been a company that has been producing a small output of vehicles for a small group of clients. After careful consideration, we have decided that instead of continuing to convert existing vehicles to full electric and building custom one offs for clients, it is finacially more prudent to produce limited runs of specific models. And the first run is what this crowdfunding platform is about.
The Vehicle:
For many many years I have been following a small company that puts out a kit car called the Labala (translating as "the bullet" in Spanish). I had driven one of their completed vehicles and with an ICE engine, it was a fast ride and handled like a slot car. But I was not content with their level of body finish at the time. I have been waiting for them to take it to the next level of finish (doors, windows, roof, etc.), but their low unit production volume has not allowed them to focus completely on the needed upgrades. I had spoken with the original designer/owner 6-7 years ago about an electric version, but we could not seem to come to an agreement that would make this venture affordable, but I decided to continue watching the company to see where it was going. With our new direction, I revisited the Labala and found that the company had changed hands and the new owner was ill and looking to sell the company. I approached the new owner about the possibility of purchase and we came to an agreement. The first hurdle being overcome now we are raising funds to take it to the next level.
Our goal is to take the La Bala and make it a fun, sexy, reliable, safe and affordable all season electric vehicle at an affordable cost to the end user. To do this we will refine the design in Solidworks and produce this vehicle in both an all wheel drive configuration as well as a rear wheel drive only vehicle that will provide safe transportation in all weather conditions.

The design modifications will start with:
* Re-designing the rear suspension from a De-Dion to a
full IRS and IFS of our design to be AWD with our
electric automatic transmission / motor
combination.
* The cockpit will already support two people
comfortably up to 6'4" in height, but we will be
widening the body in order to enhance side impact
protection zones and building in full roll protection
built to FIA standards.
* As is, the existing cockpit is open and has no doors or
windows limiting its usage to dry sunny days. We will
be enclosing the cockpit (possibly building it as a targa)
and providing functional doors with roll up windows.
* The vehicle as is has no storage space, we will be
designing into the body both front and rear storage
areas
* Our preliminary dimensions show room for a 68 Kw
battery package.
* Vehicle will have air conditioning and hot water heat.
* Our price point focus is 28,000 for the base rear wheel
drive and $38,000 for the AWD. By producing the
complete vehicle in-house and utilizing readily
available components we are confident we can
achieve this price point.
