On Friday, November 25th, while building the roof on his new home, Kyle took a 23' fall and sustained several significant fractures/breaks to both legs and feet. Gratefully, there were no further injuries; however, Kyle will be confined to a wheelchair for at least three months while his injuries heal.
For all who know and love Kyle Dalum, we know what an incredible and solid person he is. A devoted son and brother, a compassionate animal lover, active community member, adventurous outdoorsman, joker and loyal friend. Kyle is also a former service veteran who joined the military in 1999 specializing in combat engineering. He participated in cross training exercises with the US Forces in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina among many others before being deployed on a 6 month tour in 2001 to Bosnia.
Kyle was planning on using the skills and knowledge he gained during his time in service to build his home and various projects on his 4 acre property in Meadowbrook BC. He was inspired to build his own house in the nature of our ancestors, using his own hands to have a product and a design that he could be proud of. Interested in sustainability and the simplicity of integrating renewable sources into a new home, Kyle is implementing a photovoltaic solar system, a high efficient boiler, passive solar technologies, a greenhouse with a composting project, as well as, arable land to farm his own crops.
Due to the fact that Kyle will be immobilized and unable to work, we decided to create this GoFundMe account to support him. It will provide financial assistance while he is off work, support for the continued construction of his roof before the winter snow flies, as well as, giving financial aid for future therapy efforts. All of this costs a lot of money and your generous support will go a long way for Kyle.
