In Loving Memory Of Kyle And Meesha

 

In the early hours of Sunday 13th December 2020, backseat passengers Kyle Khan, 26, and Meesha Afzal, 22, died after a Mercedes A200 they were travelling in, collided into a wall.

The married couple were pronounced dead at the scene in Solihull.

Upon further research into the importance of having backseat airbags, I would like to highlight the importance of manufacturers to be legally required not to put lives at risk in the back of the vehicles by not providing airbags.

Further research has brought to my attention that it is only a legal requirement for the front passenger and driver to have airbags, in the event of an accident.

Kyle and Meesha had their seatbelts on and both sustained head injuries, which lead to their instant deaths on impact to the front seat headrests.

If the vehicles were fitted with backseat airbags, both Kyle and Meesha would be here with us today.

Looking further into the mortality rate of backseat passengers in comparison to front seat passengers, there is a high percentage of deaths in the back of the vehicles.

Due to this tragic loss, we have pledged to raise money for backseat airbags and raise awareness through Birmingham Autumn Run 2021 which will be in Sutton Coldfield 17/10/2021

This campaign is to raise awareness of the risk of being a backseat passenger and to avoid the risk of death and serious injuries to backseat passengers.

All lives in a vehicle should be of equal protection from death or serious injuries.

Our lives will never be the same without Kyle and Meesha.

No family should suffer the loss of a loved one in this way.
