Help our family honor Kurtis Lebleu-Jamieson

It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Kurtis Lebleu-Jamieson. Kurtis passed early morning on May 12th, 2024. He will be missed dearly by his mother (Lisa), his sister (Katie) and his beloved partner (Chantel) he will be missed by many other family members and friends, who's lives were touched immensely by his presence. As we mourn, we are also faced with the responsibility of honoring him with a Celebration of Life Ceremony. Kurtis was supportive, kind, loving, and strong. He always saw the good in people, and his love for others was unconditional.
For those who do not know my brothers story, I would like to share some details on what his life was like over the past few years. Kurtis was battling with substance abuse on and off for a few years. He had fully recovered, and on February 9th, 2023 he was the first graduate from his rehabilitation program since it began in 2015. After graduating Kurtis was immediately employed, by the City of Brandon, where he got a job as a Community Services worker helping others who were struggling with addiction. Kurtis went on to help multiple people become successful within the program, helping and encouraging others while on their road to recovery. Kurtis was highly praised by his own counselors, and his success brought him many opportunities. He made the local paper in Brandon in 2023, when he helped open the first Sober Bar. He spent many nights bartending there, making mocktails for locals while proudly advocating for sobriety. He was so proud of his life, and his accomplishments, and he was not afraid to be open about his struggles, if it meant it would help others.
Although, he was doing well on the outside, inside, Kurtis was still struggling which ultimately led to his tragic passing. I can only imagine the tremendous amount of pressure he was under. While he was trying to succeed in his career, plus trying to counsel others through their struggles everyday, made it very difficult for my brother to fully recover.
Since a very young age, my brother has carried a tremendous amount of weight on his shoulders. His strength, determination and love has been the foundation that has held our small family together for many years.
Kurtis was not an "addict" he was a survivor. He did what many people could not do.
Our family is small, and as we navigate through this sudden loss, we find ourselves struggling to be able to give Kurtis the celebration of life he deserves.
If you can donate anything to help, our family would be enternally greatful. Our fundraising goal, if met, will alleviate some of our financial difficulties, and will allow our family to move forward.
All Our Love and Thanks.
