Kristina's Cancer Treatment
Spende geschützt
Kristina was recently diagnosed with stage IV (metastatic) triple negative breast cancer. This is an aggressive, difficult to treat cancer, and stage IV means it is incurable at this time. Her original prognosis included a timeline of about a year and a half.
We need a miracle.
In the meantime, we have hope in the form of a clinical trial at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Advancements in TNBC research are happening rapidly, and outcomes and quality of life for TNBC patients are improving all the time. Our hope is that one of these new treatments will give Kristina and all of us who love her many more years together.
Kristina is just 37 years old. We are heartbroken to see her go through this. She means so much to so many of us, as a beloved life partner, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. And, perhaps most significantly, Kristina is the sweetest, most dedicated new mother. 8-month-old Elowyn won the jackpot with Kristina as her mom, and we all desperately want to see them have as much time together as possible.
Kristina and her partner, John, will be traveling to Boston for treatment every week, indefinitely -- hopefully for a long time to come. This drive is about 6 hours round trip from where we live in Central Maine, and often this will mean staying overnight in Boston.
We've set up this campaign to raise funds to help cover lodging and transportation costs, insurance deductibles and copays, as well as any other expenses she may incur during her treatment.
If you know Kristina, you know she is as brilliant, hilarious, and kind as she is strong and courageous. She’s always eager to lend a hand or brighten your day – whether in the form of fresh-cut flowers from her garden, a jar of homemade salsa or jelly, fixing an issue with your car, a meal in a time of need, or, in my case, helping to raise my son (her nephew) after losing his dad.
She’s a fighter. Please help her keep fighting.
Your prayers and well-wishes are at least as important to us as financial help. Please share this even if you are not able to donate. We have seen the universe work in wonderful ways already, as Kristina's story is shared.
Thank you for your love and support during this time.
