Welcome to my fundraising page! I am fundraising for my trip with First Descents, a nonprofit that provides life-changing outdoor adventure programs for young adults impacted by cancer.
First Descents benefits young adults whose lives have been forever changed by a cancer diagnosis.
The process is fast, easy, and secure. I truly appreciate any support you can provide. It will benefit a great cause!
Your donations will help me with my airfare costs to fly to Iceland for my adventure with FD. I have been on two previous trips with First Descents, FD1 and FD2. These trips are completely free of costs and do not require donations. This current trip to Iceland is considered a FDX trip...longer and out of the country with more adventure! FDX requires me to raise donations (which I already met my goal!!!!), and I must pay for my travel to and from Iceland. Once there, however, the trip is free of charge, as my food, lodging, transportation and adventures are covered.
Any donations here will help tremendously with my airfare costs to Iceland. My family and I would appreciate any donation your are willing to give. No amount is too small.
A little bit about my story and how FD (First Descents) has changed my life. I was diagnosed in 2009 with Stage III Breast Cancer. I immediately underwent chemotherapy, followed by a double mastectomy and thiry-three rounds of radiation. After which, I was in remission.
In early 2012, cancer returned to my spine in my T5 & T6 vertebraes. Obviously now I have metastatic breat cancer, and since, it has spread to my liver, upper femur, pelvis, sternum and most recently again in my spine, on my T12.
I've gone through a total of four rounds of radiation, multiple biopsies, and am currently on my third treatment of chemotherapy.
Through it all, I've managed to mostly stay positive with the support of my family and friends. But another reason is organizations like First Descents. I have been on two of the most amazing trips with them, along the way meeting new and life long friends, as well as challenging myself and learning that I can do so much more than what my body wants me to do.
Any donation, no matter how big or small, will help! And please share and pass the word along to your friends, family and others!
Thank you in advance!!!!!
