2014 m. prasidėjo „Gintarinės širdies” kova už žodžio ir kūrybos laisvę, kuri tęsiasi iki šiol.

Penkerius metus rašytoja Neringa Dangvydė Macatė varstė Lietuvos teismų duris, bandydama įrodyti, kad homoseksualūs pasakų rinkinio „Gintarinė širdis” veikėjai nėra grėsmė nepilnamečiams.
Byla perėjo visus įmanomus teismus Lietuvoje, bet rezultatų nedavė. Tačiau Neringa nenuleidžia rankų – Lietuvos teismų sprendimus ji jau apskundė Europos žmogaus teisių teismui.
Per penkerius metus Lietuvos teismai Neringai priteisė daugiau nei 4 000 eurų bylinėjimosi išlaidų. Deja, dirbdama literatūros kritike ir versdama knygas iš prancūzų kalbos, tokios sumos Neringa sumokėti negali – kultūros srityje dirbantys žmonės uždirba mažai.
Minėdamas savo 25-ąjį jubiliejų, Lietuvos žmogaus teisių centras labdaros aukojime surinko 725 eurų. Tad trūksta dar 3400 eurų arba 3800 JAV dolerių.
Prisidėkite ir jūs. Bet kokia, kad ir 5 dolerių auka. Taip padėsite tęsti bylą ir kovoti, kad sveikas protas sugrįžtų į Lietuvą.

Writer Neringa Dangvydė Macatė has spent five years in courts while trying to prove that homosexual characters in her fairytale book “Gintarinė širdis” do not cause harm to minors.
The case was tried in all judicial instances in Lithuania, all in vain. The publisher of the book agreed to return the book to retail only with a special sticker with the text “This information may cause detrimental effect to minors”.
Neringa hasn’t given up just yet – she filed a complaint to the European Human Rights Court. This court will have the final say on whether such law on the Protection of Minors against the Detrimental Effect of Public Information can exist in Lithuania, in the 21st century. After all, it is a legislation that prohibits talking to children about the world as it is, where many different kinds of families live.
During the five years, Lithuanian courts ordered Neringa to pay more than 4000 euros of litigation costs. Unfortunately, since Neringa works as a literary critic and translator from French, she cannot cover these costs by herself - people who work in the cultural sphere do not earn that much.
While celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Lithuanian Centre for Human Rights raised 725 euros to cover Neringa’s court costs. We still have 3400 euros to go or 3800 US dollars.
We invite you to contribute, too. Every dollar counts. In such a way you will support Neringa’s fight and, hopefully, help to talk some sense into our decision makers.
