Korbans fund

Our autistic son Korban is 10 years old and struggling in public school nearly every way possible.  He is an amazing kid but he does not see the world the same as we do.  Everyday activities that are easy for us can be extreme challenges for him often leading to severe anxiety, emotional meltdowns, and physical outbursts.

The smallest thing like going into a room by himself or engaging in a conversation with peers can be overwhelming.  He desperately wants to interact with other kids but just playing a game of tag and having someone touch him can lead to reactions other children do not understand.  Korban will be going into 6th grade next year and by now most of his peers either bully him or simply ignore him.

I asked Korban the other day what were some of the names of other kids in his class, he looked at me but did not verbal respond.  I then said to Korban, ‘well what are some things you and the other kids talk about in class?’ He again, looked at me with a sad, empty expression and said nothing.  As it turns out, the only person Korban interacts with at school is his 5th grade teacher.

The following week we sat down with Korban to talk to him about the possibility of going to a special school for kids with autism.  Korban became very excited when we explained that all his classmates would have challenges like him.  Now our 5th grader who would fight us every morning about going to school, asks us every day when he gets to go to the school where the kids are just like him.

As parents, we always want to do what we can to help our children succeed.  But when you see your child who has all the abilities in the world crushed and broken, the level of sacrifice you’re willing to make turns to desperation.

We are going to do everything we can to help Korban succeed and are enrolling him in the Einstein Academy for the fall semester.

The cost of private school and therapy for special needs and learn disabled children is a great burden on all families who are just trying to help their children succeed in life.  We’re asking for donations to help fund Korban’s tuition which is an additional cost for our family aside from his existing therapies.  Any amount you’re willing to donate will go to make a huge difference in Korban’s life.

Thank you to anyone who is able to help us make Korban's dreams come true to go to a school where the other kids are just like him!
