Kodi's Survival Fund Of Hope
Spende geschützt
Dear friends and community, My name is Charlene Coats, I am a martial artist, and the proud mama of two rescue dogs, two rescue cats, and two lizards! After almost 10 years of working in the service of others, never in a million years did I think that I'd be writing this story. My story, about my beloved trainging partner Kodi, a rescue dog from Okinawa, Japan which took a turn for the worse on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 when the unthinkable happened.
On October 26, 2016 another dog viciously attacked Kodi leaving him for dead. This dog was socialized with my two dogs EVERYDAY on walks, runs, multiple housesitting stays and they never showed signs of conflict. This dog was also undergoing behavioral training, but we receive no warning that he could be a risk to ourselves or our other animals. Nonetheless, something terrible happened between him and my 12 year old, 37lbs Besenji mix, Kodi, and now Kodi is in the fight for his life.
For two entire weeks now, he has been battling awful worsening wounds, dealing with multiple surgeries, medications, no appetite, infections and fevers...just to keep living. He is currently being cared for at Nor Cal Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital, and they are doing everything they can!
In the last 15 years I've dedicated myself to the service of others. I work 3 jobs just to make ends meet because I love being able to help others, and my passion to help superceeds my need for a large income. Unfortunately, I have already burned through my savings just to pay Kodi's vet bills thus far, and have run out of money to support his continued care! Now, I am seeking to raise $7500 in order to continue to provide care for Kodi who has a chance to recover. WITHOUT ANY FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM THE OTHER DOG OWNER I've been able to cover the emergency vet overnights of 6 nights so far, but he's in and out of the hospital (currently in) and requires 24/7 in home care when he is well enough to be home.
We need this money right away as emergency care pet hospitals, I've learned, do NOT make payment plans.
Kodi had already survived horrible conditions in Asia, to make it to a shelter in Napa, CA where he and I found each other. It was no coinsedence, I searched for months until I found Kodi and...at 4 years of age, he became mine.
For nearly 10 years Kodi has been a key training partner for my martial arts career. I couldn't count the number of miles we've run together if I tried. Up until this attack, even at the ripe age of 12, Kodi was still my runner getting a mile jog in almost everyday. He was also my champion eater. Never missing a meal, and usually never letting that meal last more than a few minutes. Kodi loves life, food, the outdoors, and sleeping under my covers. Unfortunately as he recovers he is gounded to a dog bed next to mine...my snuggle buddy is in no condition to recieve his snuggles.
Now you can see from the graphic picture what is Kodi's current state of existence. My once vibrant and healthy dog, an everyday athlete, is restricted to a bed and now refuses to eat.
These donations, no matter how small or large; EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS, would mean to world to my dog Kodi, to me and my extended pet and human family.
I cannot express my grattitude enough for you even taking the time to read this and hopefully, share it out. IF you are able to make a donation, just know that you are giving to one of the world's sweetest and most determined dogs I've ever known! He's made it from one country to another under dire circumstances and with your donations, positive thoughts, prayers and healing vibes, I just know that he will make it through this terrible tragedy.
Best wishes to everyone and keep your pets safe!
Thank you thank you thank you,
Charlene
