Husband/Wife Liver Transplant

A colleague of ours, Carole Shaffer, has been preparing physically, emotionally and financially to donate a portion of her liver to her husband, Mike.  Mike was diagnosed with sudden liver failure with no apparent onset early in 2014.  He subsequently became unable to work.  Initially, the transplant was scheduled for mid-summer 2014; however, it has been rescheduled and is anticipated to take place by the end of February 2015.  As you might imagine, they are tasked with huge on-going medical expenses.  They were hopeful for the surgery to occur in 2014 as they had met their annual insurance deductible.  Since it has been rescheduled to 2015, it means another deductible is now due.  Carole's insurance deductible is $3,000 and we were hoping to raise at least that amount, if not more, to assist Carole and Mike.  Our hope is that they can focus on recovering from the transplant rather than worrying about medical expenses.

For those of you who do not know or work directly with Carole, she has been with the company since 2007.  She is a hard worker, never complains, is always offering to help with any task, and has an amazing attitude given her personal stresses.

Additionally, Carole does not know that we are hoping to help her and Mike, but we know any contribution will reduce a great amount of stress for her and her husband which again will allow them to focus on their recovery.
