Buckner Mission Trip to Guatemala

Hello! My name is Audrey Hamlin, and I am a student at Baylor University studying Special Education. If you had told me I would be going abroad a year ago, I would have thought you were crazy. However, since coming to Baylor, I have become more and more aware of my desire to venture outside of the borders of the United States and experience the beauty of other places, cultures, and people. I have also been heartbroken to know that there are so many children around the world without the same opportunities I have been so richly blessed with. For this reason, I applied to go on a Project Go! trip with Buckner International. I am amazed to announce that I have been accepted to go with a team of 4 other college students to Guatemala to help the Buckner Family Hope Center by helping with Vacation Bible Schools, Social Work Home Visits, and other short-term assistance from July 7th-August 7th. I will be visiting their family centers, residential homes, and orphanages to work with children. As many orphans are abandoned due to their special needs as well, my passion for those with special needs, children, and a beautiful culture like that of Guatemala align perfectly in this opportunity. I am humbled and blessed to have this opportunity to not only help others, but most importantly encounter the love of Christ in a place outside of my comfort zone. I do not know fully what God intends for this trip, but what I know is this: life with Jesus is an adventure, and I am excited to go on this adventure with Him. 

The cost of the mission trip as a whole costs $4500. Between paying for college and living expenses during the school year, I have limited money to go toward the amount myself. I have applied for many scholarships, but I am trusting God to provide what I need through hard work on my part and the generosity of others. He has brought me this far, so I trust Him to bring me further, for His glory! I am humbled to ask for help, and I am asking for yours now. I have to pay a deposit of $750 by March 15th in order to reserve my plane ticket. Any amount would be such a great blessing! Above all, I treasure your prayers as I go through this process of preparing for this great adventure.
