Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
After running in multiple half marathons, I
have decided to run in the Berlin Marathon on September 30th, 2012!
Many of you know, I was born in Guatemala and
lived there for 10 years before moving to the US. Guatemala, although a very
beautiful country, does not have means to help educate, feed and provide for
all of its citizens. To help give back to my native country, and to encourage
me run, I have decided to raise money for the PAVA Foundation. http://www.pavafoundation.org/
This organization, which stands for Programa
de Ayuda a los Vecinos del Altiplano (Aid
Program for Highland Communities in Guatemala), is driven to improve
the quality of life of rural Guatemalans by community-based projects and
programs. They help build water systems to bring clean water to homes,
teach environmental awareness (reforestation and conservation),
present aid after natural disasters and provide school books and scholarship
programs for children and young adults (improving the quality of education
in primary schools).
My goal is to raise $4.500.00. Since I will be
running a little over 450 miles during this training process, I want to
raise $10 for every 1 mile I train.
Some of the money you donate to PAVA would help a
community to build and equip a library:
$25- school books for children and young
adults
$50- 1,000 concrete blocks to build the
library structure
$100- one year scholarship to encourage a
young adults to follow their dreams
$250- a computer, to help the people of the communities explore the world
$250 - send young girls from each community to
help them become community leaders and teach the next generation
