We are asking for fundraising to help afford the eye treatment for the kittens and the spay and neuter process for all the cats that were left on this property overpopulating the area. Helping my neighborhood one cat/kitten as a time. Please support our efforts to heal these babies and keep the cats in their original homes by spaying and neutering them. READ OUR STORY :)
Meet the 5 miracle baby boys. I found one of the baby boys in our chicken run, his eyes glued shut from an infection. I took him inside, cleaned him up and put some eye ointment on him. Later I took him out to the barn and I saw Midnight and I held the kitten in front of her and I asked 'Midnight. Is this your kitten?' She looked at me, turned around and went into the hut I placed out for her. I looked inside the hut, only to find she brought all of her new kittens to me. She's trusting me with her kittens to help them as they all have eye infections and as it's getting cold approaching winter. I was able to bring the hut into my tack room and trap all of them. Midnight is currently in my tack room, hiding but as you can see allowing me to help her babies as I'm holding them cleaning their eyes and nurturing them back to health. Let me just tell you a little story about our feral Barn cat we named Midnight. A year ago when we bought this property, a couple of feral barn cats were left behind by the previous owners. They were unable to capture them and bring them to their new place. That being said, the cats that were left behind are intact. One of them being this Dam, Midnight and two other Toms. We named her Midnight because of her striking black color and she loves to come out at night. She's got a messed up right eye, could be possibly blind in that eye. But for the past year I have been EARNING this cat's trust. I have been putting out food trying to get closer to her and showing her that we love cats through our other cats that we brought to this barn who are incredibly social with us. For this past year she has been allowing me to get closer to the point where I'm even allowed to gently brush her ear as she eats her wet food just a foot away from me. She'll now follow me into the barn meowing for her food. I cannot fully touch her but this is truly a blessing and I feel so special she put trust in me to care for her kittens. The kittens are THRIVING, beginning to play, use the litter box and eat all on their own. I will be continuing eye treatments with them only to improve and help them grow big and strong. The kittens are becoming very social with me very quickly. Mama Kitty Midnight is doing amazing. She watches me take care of her babies and allows the process with ease. I was able to capture her daughter from a previous litter, we named her Maleficent, and put her in the tack room with her. So now she has family. This daughter I have been earning the trust over for about 8 months, she took a liking to a small catio I had put in my barn with straw and a bed not too long ago. She is another one we are going to get spayed. I will be able to keep all of these cats on my property in their original home with the trap and release program of spaying and neutering the strays so they can stop reproducing, but continue to thrive in their comfortable environment (while also helping any mice issue that could happen in the barn). The two girls in the tack room, mom Midnight and daughter Maleficent, are also allowing me to get closer and touch them. This is such an honorable experience. I am so happy to be a part of it and lead them to a better life.
