Women's Health and Vocal Empowerment

This year a team of four of us travelled to the Solomon Islands at our own expense to teach women's reproductive health and public speaking to the local women there.   The project was part of "Days for Girls" and culminated with a march through the town of Noro on International Women's Day.  The local women were supplied with 2000 menstrual kits.  We left having helped the women establish a "Spokeswomen's Group" which meets twice a month to empower women to have a local voice in matters including family violence and other social issues. These folks would like us to return.  The project is partially funded by the local Soltuna factory.
We have now also received an invitation to provide the same volunteer service in Kiribati in 2020, where there is no local sponsor and poverty is even more severe than in the Solomons.
We seek funds to get us to these places and also to provide the materials needed to provide the "train the trainer" programmes we seek to provide.
In order to plan ahead and commit to this project in Kiribati 2020, we will need to raise $2,000 by the end of 2019.  Your support will mean we can reach local women, train them in reproductive health awareness and action, and help them to speak up with impact in their local community towards ending family violence for themselves and their children.  Any additional funds collected will mean we will be also able to return to Noro with follow-up training, and also consider further similar projects where it is needed.
