Losing 3 Family Members to COVID in 1 month

Donation protected
Anyone who knows Jacel knows she is the light of so many peoples’ lives. She is a beloved staple not just in the special needs community but in the school system where she’s joyfully worked despite being a mom to a severely disabled and often hospitalized special needs child herself. Jacel’s family experienced one of the most emotionally horrific experiences of their lives when they lost her aunt in early September, who was her second mom growing up, alone in a hospital on FaceTime with Jacel, Jacel’s mom and cousin. Losing someone you love that much is such a painful experience, but to be unable to hug her and hold her hand as she transitioned made it so much more traumatizing for everyone who loved her.

As they did their best to keep moving forward and planning her funeral, Jacel’s uncle started to decline and passed in the same cold, lonely way as her aunt had just passed.

This was almost more than the family could bear, but they stuck together and began making arrangements for his funeral as well. As they continued to push through this unbelievably shocking and horrific time, Jacel’s cousin began to decline. Within the month, here at the end of September, she too succumbed tonight to COVID alone in the hospital.

The family has been unable to work and barely able to function while taking care of their extra duties with the children in need of extra support living their day-to-day lives. Through this time of course Jacel has continued caring for her own son, Bruno, who is nonfunctional and nonverbal and requires an extreme amount of physical, emotional and mental assistance.

The family is unexpectedly burying 3 beloved family members in a single month and can use our support to help pay for the funeral arrangements as well as additional expenditures that come from the loss of a loved one (x 3) and the expenses they’ve been unable to keep up with due to being unable to work during this time. They will barely have time to grieve, mourn, or process this immense shock before returning to daily tasks and work, and we all know Jacel has helped anyone and everyone in every way possible despite her own hardships for many years. Please contribute if you can, every single dollar helps! Please also share, community support is so vital at an unimaginable time like this.
