My name is Tariq Hawa, a resident of Fleet, Hampshire. As from Tuesday 13th of April to 13th May 2021, I will begin my fast for the month of Ramadan. This is where I and many others around the world will abstain from eating and drinking during the hours of daylight, sunrise to sunset, 16 hours. Ramadan is a time for spiritual reflection of the soul, to learn self-discipline, betterment of oneself, spending time with family and friends and most importantly, it's a time for charity.
My contribution this year is to go a further, where I will endure to run 10K every day whilst I am fasting . I will have had no food or water for 15 hours before I start my run and will not consume any food or liquids during my run till after sunset. This will be a physical and mental test for me as I will continue to run every day till the end of Ramadan (29 to 30 days).
Each fasted run will be run around Fleet, Hampshire in aid of a local charity’ Kids in Need’ KIN hub.
Kids in Need’ KIN hub are an amazing team who families locally (Fleet, Hampshire & the surrounding areas). They are constantly supporting vulnerable families who need support with food, clothing, bedding & essentials for children.
Although I will have fasted 15 hours before I start my run, at the end of my fast I am able to eat, however there are many families locally and all around the country who do not have this option, and suffer from daily struggles just to get basic food and essentials on to their table. Like KIN hub have mentioned, I too believe that every child deserves nutritious food to thrive and grow, irrespective of their personal circumstances.
