Kimelo Neonatal Fund

For those that don't know me, I am Naomi Mwasambili born in the UK of both Tanzanian and Jamaican decent. Yesterday my baby boy died. He managed to be with us in the world for 45 minutes before passing to the other side.  Our worlds and hearts are broken and as we work through the grief and I would like to play a role in ensuring at least one less mother has to go through this painful journey.

My little boy was eager to see the world and so was born at 25 weeks. His lungs had not developed enough and as I went into early pre term labour this ultimately lead to his loss.

Across the world neonatal care is developing but in many countries including Tanzania more is needed to support mothers and babies who are born early.

So to channel some energy in this process I am starting a go fund me campaign in the name of my son, Kimelo to hopefully save some childrens lives. Neonatal equiptment, medicines, nutrition and care especially for women who can not afford it is a large cause of preventable infant deaths in Tanzania. I am raising money for these for hospitals and clinics which offer maternity services in Tanzania and were with me during this difficult period. I am specifically focusing on the Mbeya region.

At the moment I don't know what else I can do to turn this tragic situation into something positive so if anyone has any ideas let me know and thank you to all those who have reached out.

Kimelo means seedlings in Nyakyusa and so I hope this allows seedlings of hope to develop in others lives.
