Kimberly Anne Cloyd passed too soon on September 12, 2015 at the age of 42. Kim was born on October 20, 1972 to Kenneth Martin Blackburn and Berna Dephine Pedneault of Portland, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Kent and their son Kyle. Surviving in Pacific City is her second mom Enid Blackburn and her brother Kenneth Blackburn.

Kent and Kim met in 1997. Kent says he knew she was “The One” as soon as a friend introduced them.  They spent their lives together caring for their son Kyle who was born June 9, 1998. On February 28, 2014, Kent & Kim were married at The Cove in Seaside.

Kim loved the outdoors and every spring she and Kent planted a flower garden. Petunias were her favorite flower and this year they had been especially beautiful. She had spent the last few years cleaning a neighbor’s house, and would place flowers on the porch for her to enjoy. This was very “Kim”, she loved helping others.

Kim spent much of her adult life working in restaurants, joyfully serving others. Over the years she worked at three local restaurants: The Tidewater in Pacific City, The Lumberyard in Cannon Beach and Bridgewater Bistro in Astoria. Kim made lifelong friends wherever she worked, with both coworkers and customers alike.

Kyle was truly the focus of Kim’s time and efforts though. She was a patient and kind mother, and would want Kyle to be embraced, loved and understood by those around him. She was passionate about Autism Speaks and led a fundraiser a few years ago to support the organization. The family would like to thank Kyle’s caregivers for helping to make a difference in his life, and as much in theirs. Cody and Lori Bolman have been a blessing to the Cloyd’s.

Kim chose many years ago to be an organ donor. Continuing in her giving nature, her corneas will give renewed sight to another person.

Kim will always live on in our hearts and memories.
