Kili climb for orphans of Banda
Donation protected
On August 16th I'm embarking on a trek to conquer Mt.Kilimanjaro - the tallest free standing mountain in the world.
I've decided to turn it into a fundraiser to help build a home for orphans in Banda, Uganda. The project is the brainchild of 3 people I met while volunteering in Uganda earlier this year: Arielle Ferrell , Timbo Williams and Caylyn Gilbert
The hope is to build an orphanage and clinic to help save the lives of babies who are orphaned or abandoned.
You can read more about it here: http://www.theledger.com/article/20120611/NEWS/120619893/-1/archive?Title=Lakeland-Woman-Planning-Orphanage-in-Ugandan-Village&tc=ar
This is their 'baby' - I just thought that I could help a little bit by raising some money.
I'm covering all my own expenses related to the climb, so 100% of the donations received will go directly to the orphanage fund.
I've seen first hand the need that exists for facilities to care for orphaned and abandoned children in all the places I've been to in Africa. Please help me help Arielle, Timbo and Caylyn realize their dream of providing a place where these children can receive the proper medical care and love that they, like any other child in the world, richly deserve.
Thanks again to all those who donated money to the kids of Bulabakulu, Uganda during my time there. The generosity of family and friends - particularly the Durham Celtic Supporters club - has already helped fund i) the building of a greenhouse ii) buying food for the kids when there was a budget shortfall and ii) an operation and medical care for one of the kids iv) the building of walkways
