Join the movement to change Chibok & North Eastern Nigeria: A practical way that will not only Bring Back oumobile_libraryr Girls but educate the next generation.
Since the abduction of the over 200 girls from a Nigeria school in April 2014, schools and communities have come a stand still with many children not having access to basic education or a place to develop their creativity, dashing their hope of any change, young girls most of whom would end up sex slave while young boys joins terror organizers.
These projects seek to transform any bus, vans, trucks and anything that have wheels into a mobile library, filled with books and computers etc. What we in the west consider basic necessity of life (Education) having access to a library is difficult to come by in Nigeria.
We would eventually like to start a physical library connected to the mobile library. The physical library will be a space for a number of activities: but stationary and the mobile library will have some or all of the following.
Free reading;
Homework space with access to textbooks
Remedial classes for refugee students
Reading club
Teacher training workshops
Extracurricular camps for sponsor students
English courses
Mobile Library BooksCenter for Nonviolence and Conflict Transformation office will help with staff the library in collaboration with JPF Foundation that has been working to relocate women and children affected by Boko Harams act of terror.
The library will be a place children can visit after school and on Saturdays to read books. At the moment, when we aren’t carrying out the mobile library, our books sit untouched in our small office. Free reading is important because it is a chance for children to learn for the sake of learning, rather than learning simply to pass exams, which is often the case in Nigerian primary schools.
