We are Kids Plant Trees and we want every child to have the opportunity to develop a positive, long-lasting and healthy relationship with nature.
Kids Plant Trees was set up as a voluntary initiative by a group of (tired!) mums of young children in January 2020. We wanted something tactical and practical to do with our little ones that made us feel empowered to be taking action for climate, nature and wildlife. We also wanted to inspire our kids to love and care for their local environment.
Despite the pandemic, we organised and supported the planting of more than 6,000 trees. We’ve now established as a social enterprise with ambitions to plant 15,000 trees over three years, and to get 15,000 kids involved in our activities. They include:
- Giving pupils and teachers at schools in areas of high deprivation the voice, skills and support to transform their playgrounds into inspiring green spaces
- Partnering with local councils and trusts to provide free planting events for local families in public parks and spaces
- Developing a Girls in the Wood events programme for women and girls to readdress the access to nature gender balance.
Kids Plant Trees is a company limited by guarantee - any money we raise goes back into running the organisation and delivering our projects. Our work is supported by public donations, regional partnerships and corporate sponsorships.
