In 2015 my parents gave me $50 and told me to go do something good for someone else. Two weeks later I started my very own Gourmet Popcorn shop named Mason's Market, NC. My first year I had about 20 gourmet flavors by the end of the season and had made enough money to buy 20 kids in Brunswick county NC christmas gifts.
At the end of the year I packed up my shop and put it away in the garage. In 2016 I unpacked my shop after school let out. I had worked on flavors and was up to about 30. I was going to make it my best year ever. In August my story broke in the paper and then on the evening news. I went from small and cute to something amazing.
My flavors grew to over 40, all of which run seasonally over the course of the year. When christmas came i was able to buy christmas gifts to assist over 65 kids in the county and suprise 10 families food baskets. This was the moment I realizded that I was really going to "change the world one bacg of popcorn at a time!"
Our season has never stopped. This year I have donated to causes like the hot lunch debt in Brunswick county, the fire department, I have purchased gift cards for kids with cancer, and I helped a sports scholarship program as well.
My local school for this year is Jesse Mae Monroe elementary. This school needs our help. They are trying to raise $15000 to purchase computers, and countless other dollars to help with things like: hot lunch debt, buying kids school supplies and shoes for the shoe closet. Yes that is right a shoe closet. Just because we live near the beach doesn't mean that we all have money. In fact, away from the beach are some really poor families just trying to get by.
I need your help to give kids the chance to know that they can all be something, and that someone else believes in them.
