Ken truly is an amazing person. He is a dedicated father, grandfather, friend and co-worker. I have never met anyone who was as selfless, honest and hardworking as he is and only wish things would take a turn for the positive. Please help Ken with his fight against Parkinson’s Disease!
Ken was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2000. Throughout the years he has controlled this disease with medication but it has continued to progress. In September of 2015, Ken had the opportunity to have Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery. This surgery is used only on people whose symptoms cannot be effectively controlled with medication and uses a surgically implanted, battery-operated medical device called a neurostimulator (similar to a heart pacemaker) to deliver electrical stimulation to targeted areas in the brain that control movement, blocking the abnormal nerve signals that cause tremor and PD symptoms.
Unfortunately, shortly after DBS surgery, Ken got an infection and had to have the entire process removed. From surgery, infection, taking time off from work and every day bills, Ken has used all of his savings and is struggling to make his day to day bills. Ken has been given the O.K. to get the surgery again as he is struggling with controlling the Parkinson’s with medication, but is still paying off the previous surgery and will need to pay for the upcoming surgery. Ken only has a certain amount of time to get the surgery done and with mounting bills he is unable to take the time off of work to receive the procedure and is unable to afford the surgery in itself.
We will be having a benefit for Ken on May 14, 2016 at Roscoe's Roadhouse in Randolph with a silent auction, taco bar and music any little bit helps and we hope to see you there!
