HELP US TO INFLUENCE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT DECISIONS AND TO SAVE WGC
Whether you are a member of the Keep the G in WGC group, or a concerned member of the community, you will be aware of our success with influencing the decision made about the Bio Park Housing application in WGC. This success was the result of a collaboration of various groups in our beautiful town, namely Keep the G, the Welwyn Garden City Society, the Welwyn Garden Heritage Trust and you, the fantastic supporters of each group.
However, this was just the start of what we see as a long-term fight to ensure WGC remains the great place that it is and is not blighted by thoughtless overdevelopment. As we move forward there is the Bio Park appeal to fight, plus the Wheat Quarter North and Southside applications to address, and many others that are, or will come to planning.
We will continue with a range of activities that will protect what we already have and promote sustainable growth into the future. To achieve success, with these complex and ever-changing applications, we will need to use expert resources and these things come with a cost, which is often very substantial.
Some of the activities that will be needed are;
- Printing of leaflets and posters
- Advertisements in the local press
- Expert reports from planning consultants
- Legal and other professional support and advice, as required
This is where you come in, through your direct financial support and/or helping us to arrange fundraising events. By contributing in this way, you will be actively involved in making a significant difference, to what we collectively achieve.
We have set an initial target at £2,500, but to be blunt, we will need to raise considerably more, especially if funds are required to pay for legal advise, barristers , independent reports, studies and other material. So, we are asking for you to contribute as much as you can to the campaign, a campaign that is likely to last for years.
Remember that every single penny donated, will be spent solely for the purposes. There are no salaries or payments made to the volunteers - literally all funds will be used for the campaign.
As a group we will always be open and transparent with all accounts and have full auditing in place. Any funds that are not spent, will remain in the account ready for the next fight. Any funds that do happened to be left over will be donated to a suitable local charity.
