KAREN MCCLURE, my mom, is going BLIND. URGENT help ASAP.

Hello everyone. I’m here because my mother was diagnosed with dry macular degeneration. It’s a rapid progression type, and we have appointments to see retina specialists for treatments to slow the pace. If we don’t, she could be completely blind in a matter of months.

I’ve never done this; I’m just a country girl from southern Virginia. I live with and do everything I can for my parents, who have worked so hard for everything they have, but the hits just keep on coming this year.

For a little bit of background and for full exposure, my mother and father are retired medical professionals but are living on social security now. They both served in the military and get some benefits from that, but living paycheck to paycheck is difficult.

My mom's mother, my grandmother (pictured), passed earlier this year, so my mom has been dealing with that too.

Please don’t donate much. Just a couple of dollars if you can. I know it’s bad out there. But my favorite thing my mom and I do together (she’s my best friend in the whole world) is our twice-daily walks with our shepherd to look at the flowers, birds, trees, and wild animals, and I want to keep her eyes around as long as possible.
