Keep Camp L. G. Barnes Open!!

Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Camp L. G. Barnes operated by Society of Parents and Friends of Michener Centre.  Many charities are facing challenging times due to cuts to funding and after reading a news story about Camp L. G. Barnes, I felt I needed to help in some way.  I figured if they can't get public funds, why can't we raise privately?   I recently toured their facility and learned so much about the camp.  It really is a unique and wonderful place.  Accessibility is at the heart of this place.  It is a year round lakeside facility with a wide range of indoor/outdoor activities.   Their mission is to enhance the quality of life for guests by helping them to discover new horizons, to build on past experiences and enjoy themselves within the scope of their abilities and interests.  Everyone is welcome.  From guests with developmental disabilities to guests with mobility restrictions due to age or illness, this camp has everything needed to assist in making the most of everyday spent here.  And I mean EVERYTHING.  From lifts on tracks, specialized chairs, accessible shower and bathrooms to an elevator which takes guests to an elevated patio to BBQ while enjoying the sunrises and sunsets.  Due to Covid 19 restrictions and now loss of funding due to budget cuts, the camp is fighting to stay open!  Times are so tight for so many right now but anything would be so helpful to keep this inspiring place open.  What I am looking at raising would help the camp open with properly trained staff to at least get the doors open and assist people who would benefit to  get out and enjoy life.
