Keep Daniel & Dearil 'Dashin' to Live, Dashin' 4 Love'

My name is Daniel Saifire-Slack, and my wife, Dearil, and I are facing a crisis that will cost us our home and livelihood.

Just a year ago, we were living out of hotels and sometimes even our car, a 2019 Ford Taurus.

We relied on DoorDash to survive, and our car was our lifeline. Thanks to hard work and determination, we finally secured an apartment and were starting to rebuild our lives.

To be the best Dashers we could be, we customized our car. It's decked out with DoorDash emblems and black and red decals – a rolling billboard that lets our customers, neighbors, and even the police know we're just hard-working people doing our job.

I even rigged up a system to keep deliveries at the perfect temperature: conduit runs from the heater to my catering bag for hot food, and a cold line vents from the back of the car to a cooler, supplemented with dry ice on hot days and regulated by a spring thermostat.

This car isn't just transportation; it's our livelihood.

We make a great team. When Dearil Dashes, I'm the driver and handle vehicle maintenance, while she takes care of navigation, communication, and delivery. We've been Dashing since March 2024, after I recovered from a broken femur and we were finally able to leave the homeless shelter.

But disaster struck in November 2024, just two weeks after our wedding (and ironically, on Dearil's birthday!), when our car's engine suddenly failed. I had just gotten an oil change in October, so this came as a complete shock.

The repair estimate is $4,200 to replace the engine. While we've managed to save $2,000, our rent and living expenses will quickly deplete those savings if we can't get back to work.

This is our first time ever using GoFundMe. Without our car, we can't DoorDash, and without that income, we risk losing our apartment and facing homelessness once again. We're desperate to keep our home and return to work. Any help you can provide would be a lifesaver.
