Hi everyone. I'm Jenni, Chris's cousin. I wanted to bring a little something to everyone's attention if possible...
Chris & Kevin have lived in their home for 9 years. They worked so very hard for this home that they absolutely love. Though Kevin retired from the Rochester, MN school district, Chris kept working and had a job at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester as a cook, which she loved. She loved the people she worked with, her hours, the closeness to her home, etc.
Unfortunately, this past April, Chris had to stop working due to pain in her foot.
Now, anyone who KNOWS Chris knows she's a "push through the pain" kind of gal. There was no pushing through this, though.
After going to see her doctor, it was determined that Chris needed surgery due to a bone spur that was affecting her Achilles tendon. So, on June 26th, Chris had surgery on that. Everything was going fine; she was healing up. Kevin was taking care of her, doting on her like he does. Things were looking up for Chris. But then, 16 days post-op, Chris fell. On July 13th, Chris fell and completely tore her Achilles tendon free from the bone. Thankfully, she was able to get in to be seen quickly, and her surgeon got her scheduled for a repair on July 21st.
But this extra damage to Chris's foot has completely pushed her recovery back, and her getting back to work. They have depleted what savings they had because Chris had to take off from work earlier than she wanted due to the pain. And now, with the fall that required an additional surgery, it's pushed her getting back to work even farther out.
Unfortunately, Chris and Kevin are at risk of losing their beautiful home that they've worked so hard for. Chris has exhausted all options as far as trying to find help and assistance from the state, county, city, and non-profit organizations. There's a lot of assistance for renters, but Chris and Kevin are homeowners. They are three months in arrears and are desperate to keep their house.
Any amount would help, even if it's $1 or $5.
Thank you for taking the time to care enough to read about Chris & Kevin's current situation. I know they'd appreciate any help possible
