Tavin’s Fight for CP

Tax deductible
Tavin’s journey began even before he was physically present in this world. His birth was quick and dramatic, followed by hours of uncertainty and fear. At just 12 hours old, Tavin began experiencing episodes of apnea and coding. He was immediately taken to the NICU for monitoring and testing to determine the cause.

Within the first 48 hours of his life, Tavin underwent extensive testing, including multiple lab draws, EEGs, EKGs, a spinal tap, and MRIs. The results revealed that he had suffered a stroke in utero, marking the beginning of the long journey we are on today. He spent two weeks in the NICU to get his seizures under control, and at two years old, he was officially diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy—specifically, infantile hemiplegia.

Since being discharged from the hospital, Tavin has participated in therapy from infancy, working on physical, occupational, and speech development. He has received braces to support his gait, Botox injections to aid muscle development and growth, and undergoes yearly cardiac and seizure testing.

Cerebral Palsy has no cure and no definitive end—it was only recently federally acknowledged. This is why fundraising is so important. Donations not only support crucial research but also help provide necessary equipment for those who may not have access, enabling them to live more functional lives. The ultimate goal is to one day find a cure!

Tavin has been fortunate to have access to resources that support his needs. While this journey has its ups and downs with many unknowns, we trust that God has made each of us special for a purpose. We will continue to advocate for this community and raise funds to make a difference.

As a fun challenge, Tavin always picks a reward if fundraising goals are met. This year, if he reaches his goal of $2,300, he has promised to dye his hair orange!

Thank you for your support in helping us make a difference!
