Hi Folks, my name is Nancy and I’ve been a nurse and friend of KayMarie’s for over 14 years. Her friendship is so special and it’s because of her sweet soul blessing my life that I’m doing this for their sweet family. In all the years I’ve known KayMarie, she’s been stronger for everyone else around her and puts her family and friends and their needs before her own. She’s hardheaded and full of heart and fight.
I watched my sweet friend be overcome with emotion this morning as we sat down and talked about her new medication routine and treatments in the coming months ahead. Seeing her be overcome with such worry and still her thoughts were for her family, her husband and her little angel boy. She let me in on what’s going on, outside of the medical dealings she’s facing.
I know what her insurance is covering with her 14+ daily medications and treatments and with new medications her medical team has to add because of her recent conditions, they will run The Thomas family $2,235 out of pocket monthly. I know she’s worried beyond measure because her sweet boy also has medications and therapies, he is doing as well. I don’t know how she’s handling it all without breaking. Her testimony is one for the books, I can’t imagine.
She didn’t want me to do this, but I know they need help. I know she’s too prideful to ask, and I know her stress levels have to be low to keep her heart strong and seizures from acting up. She needs all of the energy and rest she can get to fight the battle inside of her. She’s been such a motivation to myself and her other friends on our unit and we love seeing her come through the door with new photos and videos of her son. We enjoy hearing stories of encouragement for patients she touches weekly.
I can’t help her by cleaning her home or mowing their lawn, but if her community comes together, I think we can help take care of their family. Every penny matters.
