My Volunteer Summer

As a teacher I am lucky enough to have a few weeks off in the summer. Recently, I have felt the need to give back and to find the right volunteer project for myself. Those of you who know me, know that working with children is my passion. This summer I will go abroad to help the children of Cuba learn and practice their conversational English. Other educational volunteer opportunities to help the Cuban communities will be avialable when I am down there to immerse the students in the language.
The money I raise will help with the program costs associated with the experience, and materials for the students. Many of their school and play items need to be replaced because they are old. Simple items like new bats and balls can be of great use.
The company that I will be working with is called GeoVisions.  All GeoVisions participants are welcome (and needed) to participate in structured classes and activities already happening in Havana. There is so much work for GeoVisions participants who wish to volunteer and get to really know the Cubans. It is literally never-ending. Current participants have said there is too much to do and so little time.
Any amount you have to donate will be greatly appreciated. There are so many ways that I can put my funds to use to help educate the Cuban children.
