Kathy Rea King- Dental Bills

Hello Family & Friends,

I am fundraising for my sister Kathy. The past 18 months have been extremely difficult for her. We almost lost her in September of 2020. I've asked her to tell her own story below. No one wants to ask for help, but there are times when we need it.

"On September 3rd, 2020, I was taken by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital. I was septic and had an abscess in my abdomen, as well as appendicitis. They couldn't tell my family if I would make it through the night. I spent a few days in the ICU and then several days on the surgical floor. I was sent home 10 days later. While home, I grew weaker and weaker, unable to hold anything down. I had a bowel blockage, forcing me to return to Beaumont for another 11 days. I had two major abdominal surgeries, which took several tedious hours. I have never before experienced such pain. They claim my abdomen will never fully recover.

When I finally came home, I had a home care nurse and physical therapy and then outpatient physical therapy for four months.

It was at that point that the real nightmare began.

On January 9th, 2021, I had to have a tooth pulled, and needed a bridge. The dentist replaced the bridge three times unsuccessfully, with the affected area becoming more and more inflamed and painful with each failed attempt to fix it. After consulting another dentist, who would not touch me because of the awful damage the first dentist had done to my mouth, I was sent to a periodontist and a prosthodontist. The prosthodontist put in a fourth bridge and has been adjusting it weekly for several months, which has been a grueling, expensive process.

Two weeks ago at a regular cleaning, the dentist found that one of the teeth holding the bridge might be fractured. She sent me to an endodontist for 3D images. The tooth was shown to be fractured, and the fourth bridge had to be discarded, leaving me with nothing to show for it but staggering costs. She has a new plan for me, which will be painful and expensive beyond my means.

I've already refinanced my home to pay some of these bills, and I'm on several payment plans. I'm asking for your help, if you are able. Any amount is greatly appreciated, along with any positive thoughts and prayers you can send my way.
