Kathy Blumenstock - The BREAST is yet to come!

Two weeks before Christmas Kathy was diagnosed with breast cancer. Invasive Lobular Carcinoma HER2+. Invasive Lobular Carcinoma is a type of breast cancer that begins in the milk-producing glands (lobules) of the breast. Invasive cancer means the cancer cells have broken out of the lobule where they began and have the potential to spread to the lymph nodes and other areas of the body. The HER2+ component of her diagnosis means that the cancer cells have an extra protein molecule attached to them making them grow at a much faster rate. 

Thankfully, Kathy caught it early and there is no involvement of the lymph nodes or metastasis noted. Kathy is receiving chemotherapy and hormonal treatment in Lubbock at the Joe Arrington Cancer Research and Treatment Center by her oncologist, Dr. Shalaby. After she completes her chemotherapy she will undergo a complete double mastectomy.

Cancer is not a word that anyone wants to hear and it’s scary. The treatments are not only hard on your body, but they also force you to put your life, job, and day to day activities on hold. There is truly no "goal" set for this fundraiser. Any donation will be a tremendous help to Kathy during this difficult time!
