Spende geschützt
Hi, my name is Kathleen, but some of my friends also know me as Lady Kat.
In January 2014 I was diagnosed with cancer again and for the 3rd time in my life. By the grace of God I have survived again, but it has left my kidneys badly damaged and with greatly reduced function. Since about April 2014 I have had a tube that drains my left kidney through my back. This tube requires changing through surgery every 3 months. It is unknown at this point if my kidney can be saved or if I must have it removed. I am mostly bedridden at this point but with needed surgeries I am hopeful to regain strength and mobility.
I need at least two more surgeries at this point. The first surgery is needed as soon as possible. I need to have the tube in my kidney changed and my kidney function assessed again to better determine the next step . As the old tube nears the time it needs to be changed, infection and bleeding increase and can push the tube out causing a life threatening situation. (This happened in December 2014.) The second surgery I need will be to either remove my left kidney or for the doctor to make another tube to connect the kidney to my bladder.
I currently do not have insurance and can't get any. I had been remarried for about 3 months when I was diagnosed with cancer in 2014. My husband said he did not want to be burdened with caring for me and left. As a result of the divorce, I eventually lost the insurance I had through my husband's employer. I have now depleted my savings and am not able to work at this time due to poor health. I was denied insurance coverage through the Affordable Care Act and assistance through Medicaid programs. At this point I find myself turning to the generosity of friends, family, and the public. This is difficult because I have been a hard worker all my life and am frustrustrated by not being able to take care of myself.
If your circumstances permit you to make a donation, I greatly appreciate more than words can say any amount whether it be great or small. Any donations will be used for medical bills, medications , health care items associated with maintaining the kidney tube while I continue kidney treatment and surgeries.
I thank each and everyone of you who takes the time to just read my story.
