Kate Sproston's Treatment for Pancreatic Cancer

This page has been created to raise money for Kate Sproston, my mum, who has recently been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. She felt unwell for just less than a year with stomach pains, weight loss, digestion issues etc before her diagnosis last week but was consistently given incorrect diagnoses by her doctor. Since September she has been misdiagnosed with a gluten intolerance, irritable bowel syndrome, Chrones disease and Celiac disease.
However, last week her skin and eyes started to turn yellow and she was rushed to the hospital, only to find out a day later that she has pancreatic cancer. She was allowed to come home after a few days in hospital and told that the nurses and doctors would shortly let her know what the best form of treatment would be, either chemotherapy or an operation to remove the cancerous cells.
Unfortunately, she was rushed back into hospital this week with severe stomach pains and we found out that the cancer is inoperable. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy will only ever keep the cancer from spreading but will never get rid of it and with this treatment she has been given 18 months to a few years left. This is extremely difficult and heart-breaking for her and for us as a family as she has already battled with leukaemia at the age of 21 and with that was only given a 2% chance of survival. She overcame leukaemia and faced many lasting side effects from the chemotherapy, including her knees crumbling so badly she had regular operations to allow her to walk without excruciating pain.
We have created this gofundme page as we have found a private clinic that specialises in a different type of medicine specifically for pancreatic cancer called immunotherapy. There is not anything that the medicine/treatment from the NHS that we believe will work in the long run as we have seen first-hand the side effects that chemotherapy has on someone. We truly believe that given this opportunity, she will be given the life saving treatment that she needs.
