On Tuesday 6th May, a simple blood test and a phone call changed everything for little Kash Knight, just five years old.
In an instant, life shifted not only for Kash but for his devoted parents, Danielle and Jarrad, and his big brother Boston. That day, Kash was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) and is now undergoing intense chemotherapy and steroid treatment at John Hunter Children’s Hospital.
Kash had only just begun his first year of kindergarten, filled with the same dreams and energy as any 5 year old. He’s a proud little brother, a cheeky dare devil, loving soul, and a passionate footy fan - already playing for the Kurri Kurri Bulldogs minor team. The Knight and Carr families are well known across the Hunter Valley, particularly through their love for rugby league and strong community ties.
This diagnosis has shaken the entire family and friendship circle. The emotional toll is devastating - but there’s also the heavy financial burden that comes with such a long road ahead. Danielle and Jarrad are doing everything they can to stay strong for Kash, but they’ll need to take extended time off work to be by his side throughout what could be 12 to 24 months of intense treatment, hospital stays, and recovery.
Danielle & Jarrad have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support, love, and messages asking how to help. That’s why we’ve created this GoFundMe page - to give people a way to ease some of the financial pressure and allow them to focus on what matters most: getting Kash well again.
We know times are tough, and there is absolutely no expectation - just heartfelt gratitude for any contribution, no matter how small. Your kindness will go directly toward supporting the family’s living expenses, medical travel, and everyday needs while they walk this unimaginable path.
From our family to yours - thank you, from the bottom of our hearts
