KAKYOPROJECT

OUR STORY

Kakyoproject began with the desire to avail healing justice through space and explore creative Artivism and creative work bringing people together while also healing and transforming afro queer lives in East Africa.

This funder aims to address the need for chest binders for trans-men and gender non-conforming people across Uganda by providing comfortable, low-cost, locally produced products made through Kakyoproject facilitated workshops. Funds will also be used to help establish the organization to be registered to enable further fundraising and sustainability for support from trusts, foundations, and individual donations.

Kakyoproject creates a space with an anti-oppression, inclusive, supportive, dynamic, anti-racist, trans-positive, queer-positive, artistically excellent humans of diverse experiences framework through creativity, performance, training, and programs for minorities to build, transformative and resilient practices in our community.

Supporting this project will support people to be themselves in a country that is difficult to be queer, trans, or non-conforming.

Binders for the Queer community:

We set out to make chest binders noticing the demand in Africa for them without any outlets making any locally. We are working with Trans community (Taala Foundation) members to provide them with skills to support their livelihood and making comfortable accessible compression gear for the community.

We need help making this project more sustainable to take shape.
