We are now fully digital. Casting a nice sharp digital image backed up by beautiful Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. Makes you feel like you're in the movie.
Our campaign will remain up as we are now pushing towards the remodel. We are great full for any help, and can't wait to do more as we can!!
HELP THE VASKA THEATRE STAY ALIVE
The Vaska Theatre is the last of Lawton's original theatres, theatres that are now memories for some generations and never known by other generations. And our goal is to be here for many more generations!
This campaign is to ask the community to help us raise money for the sole purpose of keeping the Vaska Theatre up and running. With the film companies phasing out 35mm we are forced to either go digital or go away. Going digital offers great resources for us to do more for the community but comes at a large cost. Once converted to digital we would be able to offer art films, classics, kid specials and so much more as well as the current releases.
We are also in need of a remodel to bring the Vaska back to life. Repairs to the seats, sound, bathrooms, concession, etc. Things that will make it a nicer, more inviting environment. But couple the cost of the remodel and a conversion and it's simply not something we can do by ourself. And without the conversion the, remodel would be a waste with film options drying up.
Digital conversions run on average $70,000 to $100,000 per set up. We've been able to get a great deal on a nice setup for about $69,000. And we are only asking to raise at least the down payment to secure the equipment. The down payment will allow us to get everything in motion for the conversion.
Donations can also be made in person at the theatre via cash, check, or money order.
