Help For My Son

Donation protected
This is very hard for me to put out there but I am desperate!! Very few people know that on July 17th 2017 my son Josh tried to kill himself by taking a bunch of over the counter medicines. This lead to a few days in pediatric icu followed by nearly 2 weeks in the mental health center at the hospital. Once he was discharged, we were referred to psychiatrist after psychiatrist, all of whom would tell us that Josh needed a “different type of therapy” and that they couldn’t help him. About one month later Josh cut his arms so severely that the scars will never go away and ended up at the hospital again for about 8 days. This time when he was released, we (us and the hospital treatment team) agreed a long term treatment center would be best. The closest one we could find was Three Rivers Midland in Columbia SC, about 2 1/2 hours away from where we live.  We sent Josh to live there hoping that they could help him. But they didn’t. After 2 months of
living there my health insurance decided to stop covering his stay and I was told the same day that he was being kicked out that I had to come get him. At this point we had been going back and forth with my insurance company for about a month trying to get them to let him finish the program. The treatment team at three rivers would have to go through discussions with blue cross blue shield every few days and Josh’s coverage would get approved for a few more days each time. Finally my insurance company just decided no more.  So I picked him up and that was that. On March 5th Josh was once again admitted to the adolescent mental health center at Novant hospital. This is the third time in less than one year. This time he admitted to his psychiatrist that he had a suicide plan. So again, another 8 days he was in there. This time, a special kind of group therapy was referred for Josh, called DBT.  There aren’t many therapists who use this type of therapy. I called the place that he was scheduled by the hospital to attend, mcloud Acosta clinical services, and was told it would cost us $1900 up front!! This is for a 16 week therapy commitment that is really supposed to help him, and this price includes our health insurance. We absolutely can not afford this up front! We are desperately seeking help for our child with mental health problems that cause severe disruption to not only Josh’s life but to ours and his brother’s as well. Our son needs help and this DBT therapy has been suggested to us a few times but now it seems like it is our last option. We still owe money from the very first incident but I am only asking for help for this therapy that he needs. Please if you can’t donate , consider at least sharing.
