Justice for Our Brother

Donation protected
On March 31st @ approximately 2PM the Toronto Police alongside Peel Regional Police racially profiled and mistook my younger brother for an allegedly dangerous and wanted criminal.  The police used excessive force and it landed my younger brother in the hospital.  He feared for his life and was physically harmed during this interaction.

Paramedics were called and my 17 year old younger brother was carried to the hospital in HANDCUFFS!  As if he was guilty.  My younger brother has a learning disability and still doesn't comprehend exactly what has happened.

We want justice! Stop racially profiling innocent young Black children! There is no excuse for this.

When my mother arrived to the ER the police withheld information from her and failed to acknowledge that something dangerous and unacceptable had happened, and resulted in her son requiring medical care.  It's only because of bystanders videos that we know the truth.

My brother and my entire family are traumatized!! We have been crying for days.  He is in a lot of pain from his injuries.  We thank God for protecting my brother because we know this could have turned out so much worse.

In order to hold the system accountable we need to hire a lawyer.  Due to the trauma we are all experiencing we need the help of counselling to repair the deep wounds to our psychological health.  We may need some other supports along the way.  The community outpouring of solidarity and offers of expertise and information has been overwhelming and uplifting to us.

We are so appreciative of any help in our efforts to repair this harm and get JUSTICE!

Holding these officers accountable for this egregious and unwarranted act will help prevent future harm.  We cannot let this go.  This young boy and all other children must be able to live free of racial profiling and police violence and that is what we are fighting for.

Thank you again for taking the time to support our family as we seek justice and accountability.  Any support given means the world to us.
