Justice for Bo and Baby

I'm a long time animal advocate and rescuer. On Sunday August 14th at 7:15 AM I received a phone call from a fellow advocate. He had found a sweet abandoned Pit Bull at Eagle Rock Reservation and needed to find refuge for him. Soon a gorgeous white dog with perfect grey spot around his eye (now called Bo aka Smooch), was in my care as I waited for the Montclair township animal shelter to open. This docile gentle boy rested his face in my hands and looked into my eyes as if to say thank you. His condition was deplorable. He was skin and bones with nails so long they curled making it difficult for him to walk. With each stroke I gave him, clumps of hair fell to the ground. It would have taken months of neglect for a dog to get into such a pitiful state.

Sickeningly, 24 hours later a second loving docile abandoned Pit Bull was found in the exact same location at Eagle Rock. This chocolate female (now called Baby) was perhaps in even worse condition than Bo. In addition to being severely underweight she also suffered from skin issues, and painful burns on her pads (likely from living in a crate in her own urine and feces.) Her ears at some point had been mutilated a sign of an at home crop job done without anesthesia.

Pit Bulls are the most overbred, abused neglected misunderstood dogs in the world. While Baby and Bo are now safe, there are millions of others just like them that are not. Let's send a message to whoever is responsible that we as a community will not stand for this!

With the support of the Essex County Sheriff's department, I have created this GoFundMe. I am hoping that reward money will inspire someone to step forward with information that will help us get justice for Bo and Baby and perhaps make it harder for those responsible to continue this cycle of abuse.

In the event that the perpetrator is not found, half of the donations received will go to The Montclair Township Animal shelter and remainder will be divided amongst the following small Pit Bull friendly local rescues: Fly Away Home Rescue, Traveling 4 Paws Rescue and Buddha Pooch Dog Rescue Project.
