Singleton experienced a Third World country for the first time when they were blessed
to have a destination wedding in Jamaica. Although they were blown away by the
breathtaking scenery & essence of the culture there, they were even more
amazed at how destitute the people were outside of the resort walls. The worst
housing projects in America can't compare to how the majority of people live in
Third World countries.
Seeing images on t.v. and the internet were one thing, but seeing it firsthand really put things into perspective. During that trip, they vowed to not only love each other for life, but to also do whatever they could to help people less fortunate than themselves.
When the 7.0 magnitude earthquake ripped Haiti apart in 2010, the Singletons were among the millions of people all over the world who donated to relief efforts:wishing they could do more, but knowing at the time it was impossible.
Four years later, the country is still "recovering" and in need of desperate assistance. The opportunity for them to help has presented itself again as their church, Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church (http://www.olivebranchchurch.org/), has partnered with a Door to Hope (http://www.adoortohope.com/) for a week long mission trip in March 2014.
The Singletons will be part of a small group of church members that will travel to Callabasse, which is located in the mountains of Haiti. In order for the both of them to go they are asking for donations, which will be put toward transportation, boarding, & supplies. Whether you can give $5 or $25:every little bit helps.
As well as monetary donations, they are asking for prayers for their group as they prepare their hearts and minds to do God's work in an effort to help the hurting people of Haiti.
