About a month ago, our dear friend Allison’s father went into Brookhaven/LIC Hospital for a bad case of pneumonia. While in the hospital, Steven Brown unfortunately contracted COVID-19, on top of the already increasing complications with his lungs. After a few weeks in the hospital and a stint on a ventilator, the doctors decided that Steve’s body was strong enough to be able to come off the vent. Shortly after being taken off of it and taken out of the ICU, Steve had an unexpected heart attack that wound up taking his life. Up until that moment, this family received nothing but good news and positive updates from the doctors and nurses at the hospital, who were also working tirelessly to care for not only Steve, but all of the other COVID patients. To get such positive news and hear that your father or husband was doing so well, and then to be hit with the blow he passed away from something completely unrelated to what he was being treated for, is just beyond any words that I can begin to describe. Our hearts hurt for our friend and her family, and we want to help in any way that we can. Money doesn’t help heal the pain of losing a loved one, but it does give some relief to any sort of financial hardship that may come with both medical and funeral expenses, along with any other bills and every day living expenses. We know that this is a tough time for everyone right now, but we are asking that if you have anything to give so that we can help this family get some peace of mind and try to grieve the loss of their father and husband, we would be more than grateful. And if you are unable to donate, please just pray for and send nothing but positivity and love to this family.
