Update 8-4-25,
We had a wonderful weekend celebrating JP's Birthday by hosting a large BBQ at the station. JP was released into hospice on his birthday last Thursday, J is a fighter and has not given up as he continues his shots. He still needs some help along this long journey, and we thank everyone who has sent prayers and supported him throughout.
Update 6-16-2025
For everyone who's been following along, Last week we posted an update that JP was cancer free. Tonight we received the devastating news that it has returned with a vengeance. The cancer is attacking
his brain stem. He's a fighter, but the prognosis is bleak. With the exception of 1 night, he's been in the hospital fighting this horrid disease for over 6 months straight.
Jp joined our organization as a Junior member in 1993, throughout his journey in the emergency services also included becoming an EMT with the Hampton Emergency Squad. During his time at 13 Rescue, he was one of the crew for the response of 9/11. His journey here led him to the Chiefs spot in 2003, and again in 2020-2022. Up until his cancer diagnosis, he was one of our primary Operators. Even in his darkest moments, he'd give the shirt off his back to someone in need, ever the public servant.
Outside of here, He's a devoted Single Father to his 13 year old daughter Dallas. We need your support as we are quickly running out of resources for his income as he's used up all the borrowed PTO time at work and is still trying to obtain permanent disability. If you can help, I cannot tell you how much it would mean to him.
Sincerely,
