Join Us in Remembering A'laysia Percy

Hello, my name is Jasha Hurst, and on January 6,2025 my family and I received a devastating phone call that my sister, A'laysia Percy, had passed away due to suicide. Due to the circumstances of self-inflicted death insurance will not cover the expenses. My family would like to raise money to give A'laysia a homegoing celebration.

Alaysia known to family as "naenae" and friends as "Percy" loved to play basketball and draw. A'Laysia attended and graduated from Port Allen High School, where she was a passionate member of the Lady Pels Basketball Team. Alaysia was a smart honor roll student, and was a part of the Gifted and Talented Arts program from 5th grade up until her high school graduation. After High School she had dreams of attending college to study Architecture Engineering as well as one day opening her own Tattoo Studio.

In January of 2022 our grandmother passed away and took a toll on our family. A'laysia's battle with her mental health began shortly after. She began to disassociate from all her friends and her passions began to slowly fade away. After being hospitalized in 2023, Alaysia was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. Although she continued to battle with her mental health her spirit of perseverance would not get in her way of trying to live a normal life. With the support of family and hospital stays somedays seemed to be better than others. Unfortunately as time progressed her symptoms worsened leading to the untimely tragedy that has shaken our family and community.

My family and I are thankful for the outpour of support and love we have received from family, friends and our community. At this time we are asking for any amount of assistance that will allow us to give our loved one the Homegoing Celebration she deserves. No amount is too small, all is appreciated.
