Hi, my name is Kaitlyn Lowery. I am an equestrian event rider with big dreams—dreams of competing at the highest levels of eventing, including one day reaching the Olympics. My journey has led me to an incredible partner, an Off-The-Track Thoroughbred (OTTB) named Gigi, whose heart and talent inspire me every day.

Ever since I can remember, I begged my parents for riding lessons. I would pray at night for a horse of my own that I could jump around with. Growing up, I rode any horse I could—each one teaching me something invaluable. But through all those experiences, I learned what it feels like to truly click with a horse. It’s like meeting someone for the first time yet feeling as if you’ve known them forever.

That’s exactly how it felt when I met Gigi. She was just three years old, fresh off the track, and I had never ridden a horse so young. The moment I sat in the saddle, I knew—this was a once-in-a-lifetime horse. From that day forward, it has been an incredible journey learning and growing with her. Together, we’ve climbed the levels of eventing, competing up to CCI1*.

There’s no feeling quite like galloping out of the start box on cross-country. It’s pure freedom, adrenaline, and joy. Gigi and I share a bond like no other—she knows what I’m thinking before I even ask. She gives her whole heart to this sport, locking onto jumps with determination and always searching for the next challenge. I truly believe she has what it takes to go all the way.

Spending time in Europe as a top-level groom and working in a professional show barn has shown me what it takes—both physically and financially—to compete at the highest level. The reality is, in order for Gigi and me to reach our full potential, we need support. Producing a horse to the top of the sport requires resources beyond what I currently have.
